We are seeking two or more Senior Research Associates on either a full or part-time basis for periods ranging from 2 – 3½ years. Successful candidates will be appointed into important new posts whose functions are to contribute to one or both of two research streams, being 1) Support for Vulnerable People and 2) Methodologies for Big Data Analytics.The requirements of the two research streams provide an opportunity for flexible start dates which will be dependent on the candidate’s skills and experience and how these map onto the schedule of needs of the research programme. Due to the funding source, no post will last beyond 31 January 2019.The successful candidates will undertake quantitative analysis using data generated by Local Authorities to address research questions concerning support for vulnerable people and/or methodologies for big data analytics. The ideal candidates will have considerable experience and knowledge of data processing, statistical analysis and/or data mining/machine learning methods of analysis of complex data to identify casual relationships in social science or similar applications. For the post-holder(s) contributing to the Supporting Vulnerable People research theme, there will be an opportunity to spend time at Norfolk County Council to understand relevant data systems and operational processes that generate relevant data.Applicants must have PhD or equivalent research experience in a relevant field with the ability to work independently as well as under guidance, and be able to demonstrate an interest in the fields of application of the methods being used. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential.
