We support open data.
The University of Essex is pleased to become an official supporter of the Open Data Institute. Founded by Sirs Tim Berners-Lee and Nigel Shadbolt, the ODI is facilitating the evolution of an open data culture to create economic, environmental, and social value. It helps unlock supply, generates demand, creates and disseminates knowledge to address local and global issues.
Gavin Starks, ODI CEO says:
‘In joining the ODI, the University of Essex is showing leadership in its sector, recognising the social, economic and environmental potential of open data. More than 70 pioneering member companies have now joined the ODI to deliver new products and services and create value for business, and society.’
We at the Business and Local Government Data Research Centre, based at the University of Essex are excited to be part of the open data revolution. Open data is important to our research. Whether it is a dataset that stands alone or a number of datasets that are linked to give more detailed information, we understand that open data is a tremendous resource and we are excited to be able to embrace it.
