Free Medway Business Event Explores Data

A free event taking place at the Historic Dockyard in Chatham will explore how businesses are using data to evolve, and what businesses can do to improve their use of data.

The Big Data Can…Evolve Business event is part of a series of events taking place at the University of Kent across both Medway and Canterbury. The free events are organised by the Business and Local Government Data Research Centre and open to the general public, private and public sector employees, university staff and students to attend.Staff within a small business warehouse

The business focused event takes place on Thursday 19 October, starting at 5.30pm, at the Old Church in the Historic Dockyard. Expert academic and industry speakers will discuss their views and experiences, and will then join a panel to answer audience queries.

Professor Jerry Coakley, Deputy Director at the Business and Local Government Data Research Centre, will chair the event, he said, “Big Data are mapping the road to future business success through improved marketing, risk forecasting, smoother and more streamlined processes and procedures, increased product offerings, and access to novel forms of alternative finance. These data exist in all businesses but are also increasingly used by their service providers. There is a huge disparity in how well businesses choose to, or are able to take advantage of these. In this event we hope to inspire businesses of all types and sizes, and students and researchers who focus on business, to look at these data through different lenses.”

Bookings for this free event can be made now.
