Professor of Economics of Health & Welfare at Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia, Ruth’s research interests are in the economic, health and social policy implications of individual and population ageing with a particular focus on financial provision for later life and provision for long-term care needs. Prior to this Ruth spent ten years as a government economist in the (then) Department of Health and Social Security and a period in economic consultancy. She has published widely in top journals such as Ageing and Society, Review of Income and Wealth, Health Economics Policy and Law, Journal of Poverty and Social Justice, and Economics.
